Michael's Daily Notes

When you vote in our daily poll, you have the option to suggest future topics or pose a question to me directly. Last month, Mary Burke from Prescott, Arizona, asked a great one: How often do our poll results accurately predict the future?
I realized I’d never actually looked at the data through that lens, so I assigned intern Andrew Cadwallader (Haverford College, ‘26) to study the issue. I’ll be sharing the full results on the radio today, but here are a few highlights:
· November 2022: In the wake of the midterms, respondents overwhelmingly saw Ron DeSantis as the future of the GOP.
· September 2023: Ten months before President Biden withdrew from the race, 61% of you already said he should do so.
· October 8, 2023: The day after the Hamas attack on Israel, 68% of respondents believed the prospect of a two-state solution was over.
· October 10, 2023: When asked if the war would become regionalized, 55% predicted that it would.
· Election Day 2024: In a notable miss for the consensus, 83% of voters predicted a Harris victory.
· June 2025: Amidst "Operation Midnight Hammer" (the strike against Iranian nuclear capabilities), I asked if the situation would "end well." 80% of you predicted that it would not.
Tune in to the show today for the full breakdown of where we were right, where we were wrong, and what it says about the "wisdom of the crowd."
